5-Reasons-Why Cats Are Ideal House Pets

5 Reasons Why Cats Are Ideal House Pets

There’s no greater joy than coming home to a loyal companion who loves you unconditionally. Cats are majestic, loyal and smart animals, and can make for great household pets.
While most people consider having dogs as pets, they might not always be the best fit for you and your lifestyle. Having a cat for a pet is an extremely rewarding relationship that can be just as fun. Here are 5 reasons why a cat may be the ideal pet for you:

1. Cats are independent and clean

One of the best things about cats is how much they enjoy regularly grooming and cleaning themselves. Cats steer clear of smelly or filthy objects and usually have little to no stinky odour. While you have to take them to a groomer occasionally, cats don’t need to go to the groomer as frequently as dogs do. They are very independent and generally take care of themselves when it comes to cleanliness, saving you time, energy and money.

They also contribute to keeping your house clean by keeping unwanted, harmful pests away.

2. Potty training cats is super easy

Cats like to stay in tidy places, therefore, they are quick to learn where to potty. They instinctively know where to relieve themselves and they frequently bury their waste in mud once they are finished. This makes it easier for them to understand the purpose of the litter box and quickly learn to use it.

3. Cats are low maintenance

While cats enjoy your attention and love to play with certain toys, they are also very good at keeping themselves engaged when you’re away or busy. They enjoy pampering themselves and engaging in leisure pursuits like self-grooming, bird watching, house exploring, or resting.

While your kitten might need some careful supervision, older cats that are healthy and well can be left alone for a day or two as long as they have proper access to food, water, and the litter box.

4. You don’t have to walk your cats, ever

Unlike a dog, cats don’t require multiple walks a day. In fact, they don’t require any. Unlike dogs, cats are territorial creatures that are not very fond of change and generally don’t enjoy activities like walking or travelling. They like the comfort of staying in familiar places and are pretty good at keeping themselves entertained and active indoors. Therefore, walking your cat outdoors is not a necessity.

5. Cats are ideal pets for apartments

Many apartments allow you to have cats since they are small, quiet and less prone to cause a ruckus every time someone passes by or rings the doorbell.

They are also less likely to be loud and noisy when left alone, as they usually sleep when they get bored. Cats sleep a lot, as much as 12 to 16 hours a day. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about them wreaking havoc in the apartment out of boredom while you’re away at work.
