Rabies is a contagious disease of mammals transmitted through saliva. Common signs of rabies in animals include derangement, seizures, difficulty breathing and swallowing and excessive salivation.

It’s said a dog with rabies will probably do things it wouldn’t if it didn’t have rabies. Along with the physical sufferings like nausea, fever and mental confusion, dogs show excessive irritation and aggression. Psychological effects may include fear or hallucination and aversion to light.

While any mammal can transmit the rabies virus, 99% of all human cases result from contact with an infected dog. Rabies in humans are 100% preventable through prompt and appropriate medical care. However, without early treatment, rabies is almost always fatal.

Being dedicated to the welfare of animals and the people who love them, AMTM in collaboration with Royal Canin organised a vaccination drive on the second of September this year to help save lives.

Over five days of the drive, we covered regions of Mumbai namely Malvani, Chickowadi,  Shankarwadi, Patelwadi, Marve Gaon, Aksa Gaon and the areas around Vrindavan studio, Akashwani and Kharodi Mahalaxmi Mandir Dawlat high school. A total of 572 dogs and puppies have been vaccinated in all the above mentioned areas and will be protected for three years.

While we continue our resolute efforts towards making the world more pawsitive, let’s come together to make rabies a history.

Learn more about how you can be a part of our transformative undertakings.

Every dog must have its day. Until then, let ours be theirs.
